A viral video captures Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal in a discussion with German Economy Minister Robert Habeck regarding the sale and purchase of heavy machinery from a German firm linked to China. During their Delhi Metro journey, Goyal declared, "We should stop buying German equipment." Habeck's visit to India earlier this week was part of a high-level delegation headed by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

In the footage, Goyal explains to Habeck that China is blocking a German company from providing heavy machinery to India because the company produces its goods in China. "The German company supplying us with boring machines manufactures them in China, but China won’t let them sell to India... We need to halt our purchases of German equipment," Goyal stated. A surprised Habeck responded, "They are producing in China?" to which Goyal affirmed, leading Habeck to say, "I think I should listen to you."
